Why parents end up here on a weeknight

Most parents land here on a weeknight because homework has stalled and the explanation that worked in class isn't reachable at nine in the evening. What a parent should know before signing up

It works through problems, it does not complete them

Ask it to do the assignment and it won't. It will take the problem apart with your child and get them to the point of solving it. That is slower on any given night and it is the only version that helps by the end of term.

Consent is required under 13, and it is enforced

A child under 13 cannot start a session until a parent has verified consent. That is a legal requirement rather than a setting, so it is worth doing at signup instead of at the point your child wants to use it.

The parent dashboard shows what subjects were worked on and for how long. It is there so you can tell effort from avoidance, not so you can read over a teenager’s shoulder.

It cannot tell you whether something is wrong

If your child is struggling in a way that feels structural rather than topical, this is not the thing that diagnoses it. It can adapt to a difficult session; it cannot assess anyone, and a tutoring product implying otherwise would be doing real harm. That takes a qualified professional.

K-12 Tutoring — common questions

What ages is this actually suitable for?
Roughly five through eighteen, and it behaves differently across that range — an early reader gets short exchanges and a lot of encouragement, a sixteen-year-old gets treated like someone capable of an argument. Under-13 accounts need verified parental consent before a session can start, so a younger child cannot open one on their own.
Will it just give my child the answers?
No, and that is deliberate. It works through a problem with your child rather than handing over something to copy into a worksheet — which is the difference between finishing tonight's homework and being able to do next week's. If what you need is the assignment completed, this is the wrong tool.
Can I see what my child is doing?
Yes. Parents get a dashboard showing subjects worked on and time spent, so you can tell whether the hour was math or forty minutes of avoiding math. There are no ads and student data is not sold.
My child is behind. Where do we start?
Start with the class they're actually in, not where you think the gap opened — most people place it about a year later than the truth. Say what they last understood clearly and the session works backwards from there, which is much faster than restarting the whole subject on a guess.
Is it a replacement for their teacher?
No. It's available at eleven at night when nobody else is, and it never makes a child feel slow for asking the same question a fourth time. It also hasn't watched them all term and can't see what's happening in the classroom. It works best alongside the people who can.
